The West Mill Wedding Photography

Courteney & Tom

Where do we start?! Courteney & Tom’s big day was simply incredible from start to finish! It was our first time at ‘The West Mill’ and it’s a photographer’s dream! Transformed from an industrial cotton spinning mill into the most breathtaking, exclusive wedding venue – this grade 1 listed building is just stunning! Split over 4 floors, this gorgeous pair took full advantage of all of the quirky spaces, leaving all of their guests speechless as they arrived and experienced The West Mill in it’s full glory!

Tom and the boys used the venue’s coach house to get ready – opting for classic black suits with matching bowties, they certainly looked the part! To say these lads were relaxed is somewhat an understatement, as we walked in with not long until the ceremony, Tom was still casually wandering round the room in his pants!

Courteney and her bridal squad got ready on the top floor of the venue, just feet away from the ceremony space, so no last minute rushing around for these girls (and Josh!). Courteney went for one of the coolest dresses we’ve seen, elegantly detailed with embroidered stars, perfectly complimented by her jewellery and a pair of funky converse high tops – she really did make a super cool bride!

Once the bridal party were almost ready, the star of the show arrived – the bride and groom’s four legged, gorgeous boy Wilf and he couldn’t wait to see his Mum in her dress! He was even allowed to walk down the aisle!

Courteney’s Dad arrived to ‘give her away’ and he was speechless when he walked in and saw how beautiful she looked. He was super proud to be accompanying her down the aisle. Guests were then asked to stand, a live musician played the venue’s grand piano and Tom couldn’t resist having a little look at his stunning bride as she came down the aisle.

The ceremony space is just phenomenal – exposed brickwork, industrial windows and the funkiest lighting hanging from the ceilings made for the most incredible photos. After these two had sealed the deal with that all important first kiss (and a squeeze… Tom!), we all made our way down to the ground floor and out into the courtyard – where the coolest, converted horse box served drinks and guests mingled as they explored the wonderful grounds and admired the views of the River Derwent which runs adjacent to the venue.

We couldn’t wait to take the new Mr & Mrs Scullion off for their portraits. With so many amazing backdrops, we were spoilt for choice and this pair absolutely smashed it! We had to get Wilf involved and he was quite simply a natural in front of the camera!

After the drinks reception, we made our way back inside for the wedding breakfast – three perfectly symmetrical rows of tables and the most stunning decor made the room looks so classy! With one of their guests adopting the master of ceremony roles with his new found school dinner type bell, guests went crazy as the new Mr & Mrs entered! After incredible food, speeches kept the guests entertained and set up the vibe for the evening perfectly.

Courteney is some what of a baking genius – she prepared an entire table of mouth watering cakes and treats for the guests to devour – perfect to keep the energy going after some crazy dance floor antics! The absolutely crazy talented ‘girls that mix’ had the building literally shaking with live sax and percussion alongside the DJ. We’re sure there would have been some mega sore heads in the morning.

Courteney & Tom, you guys truly smashed it! Thanks for having us share your phenomenal wedding!
