Jess & Kris
Having got to know this lovely pair over the last couple of years and them having their big day postponed more than once – they truly deserved the most amazing wedding. I myself was then absolutely gutted to be a victim of the pandemic and found myself isolating for their big day! However, the incredible Jen Peel stepped in and assisted in shooting Jess & Kris’ special day. We’ve still had the privilege of editing the images in our signature style however.
Jess & Kris chose the stunning Shustoke Barn to host their special day. One of our favourite venues, this red-brick 18th century barn certainly has the wow factor! Set around a private courtyard, with huge olive trees and beautifully maintained gardens – it creates a gorgeous backdrop for wedding photos.
This blog finds itself written slightly different to our usual creations – we have Jess’ first hand account of their stunning wedding! Read on to hear all of the exciting details…
“Getting ready for me was great and so chilled! Lots of prosecco, eating brunch and telling jokes whilst relaxing in the beautiful cottage was perfect. However, we still had the last hour of chaos! I really enjoyed coming down the stairs at the cottage to all my Bridemaids and Bridesman in my dress!
We had a string quartet at the venue to play me and the bridal party down the aisle. It was beautiful and mum and I got a bit emotional. My mum had the pleasure of walking me down the aisle as my dad passed away a couple of years ago. I had a locket on which my mum gave my dad – with a picture of him and my grandparents who are no longer with us which was a super special way for me to feel they were there with me.
The ceremony was perfect – we had beautiful readings from our lovely friends. It was so wonderful to have them play such a special role during our ceremony. This being our 3rd attempt it was definitely 3rd time lucky!! Getting married was everything I dreamt of and marrying my best friend was just amazing! After the ceremony, we stole a few moments away in our vintage car for a drive around the beautiful, local countryside. Having the chance to enjoy some time alone just after tying the knot was really lovely. We did manage to get back to hear some of the string quartet at the reception, particularly enjoying the Jurassic Park theme tune which was a special request from Kris and I! Our guests loved listening to some beautiful music whilst enjoying fizz and the delicious canapés!
The speeches were great – my mum did such a beautiful job even though she hates public speaking, toasting to my dad and welcoming Kris into the family. Kris realised half way through his speech he had only printed half of it! But managed to roll with it and did brilliantly. The decorations were all gin themed with bottles filled with fairy lights for the table names and the seating plan I painted myself. Our floral theme was concentrated around wildflowers and relaxed which our florist absolutely nailed with beautiful, bright colours. It suited the rustic feel of Shustoke Barn so well!
With it being such a gorgeous evening, we chose to have our first dance outside and we loved it. We danced to ‘Deep purple’ by Artie Shaw and Helen Forest surrounded by all of our nearest and dearest – it was simply magical! Kris and I had the most wonderful day and having waited so long to get married, when the big day finally arrived – it was everything we dreamed of and wish we could do it again!”
Although we didn’t have the privilege of shooting the new Mr & Mrs Hutchings-White’s wedding day, we are super proud to be able to edit the entire day and tell their love story in this blog. Jess & Kris, here’s to the most incredible married life full of laughter, love and pure happiness x
Credit to Jen Peel who stepped in to capture these perfect images whilst I was unable to attend due to covid! Big thanks!
